JP1 had BH’s maple bacon jam with his scrambled eggs yesterday - that’s how I knew the withdrawals were kicking in and it was time to go back to Burger_Hounds1. 🍔 Tossed up between the Canuck and the special. Glad I went with this one for something different! As always perfectly cooked patty and soft melt-in-your-mouth bun. Followed the advice and added bacon and cheddar (very glad I did this). Loooooved the deep fried mozzarella patty. This was one of the densest burgers I’ve had from BH and I actually couldn’t finish it. But I definitely took the mozzarella patty out and finished that off. The bolognese mayo was creamy and complemented the pepperoni jam super well. I wasn’t a huge fan of the jam myself but I don’t love pepperoni so I’m sure that’s why. Had to get poutine on the side too... always.

Went to the local today for lunch because we never have any groceries. It’s always a welcoming visit - the guys and girls at burger hounds seem happy to see you every time! Had to go in for the toastie. It was everything I thought it would be and more. Holy moly the taste of the bread on its own was enough 😍 that mixed with the layers of cheese was magnificent. The patties are always melt in your mouth quality here and I’d forgotten the genius that is the hound sauce. 🤤

Content warning ⚠️ : this will be the saddest story of heartbreak you’ve ever read. We finally made the trip to brades in search of Nonna. Nonna in the form of a deep fried lasagna patty had run out 😭. I wasn’t even mad, just disappointed (to quote my parents). Nonetheless we soldiered on and ordered something else. I went with the Rise n Shine but removed the egg because I’m not a huge fan. I added liquid cheese but in the cloudiness of my heartbreak and agony I forgot to add the bloody smashed patty. The hash brown was soft and moist and the bacon was crispy af. The bbq sauce was to die for but overall it felt like a rebound burger. I’d get this one again with the patty and I’m sure my rating would change because this one was my fault. Will. Be. Back. For. Nonna. With James_Harte and JP1

Last time I came here I gave this burger a 4.7. Today I’m going even higher because it was everything I felt like eating and more. The flavour on this was insane which I couldn’t remember from last time. I’ve never tasted a burger with so many flavours going on at once. I’m not sure what they put in their signature sauce but I want the recipe. It has just a hint of spice which I love because it doesn’t overpower the whole burger. The beef patty was cooked literally perfectly and just look at that CRISPY BACON!! 🥓🤤 The salads also cut through the density of the other ingredients. Love this place. Glad it’s close to home 😍

🥓🍳Breakfast in Sydney 🥑🍔 (Wentworth point) Haven’t had a burger with avocado for ages - this one was delicious AND they weren’t stingy with the smashed avo. The povalone cheese was melted perfectly onto the beef patty and the bacon - I was happy about this because I’ve had a few burgs lately where the cheese was only half melted so it tasted plasticy. I think a cheese with a stronger taste could have added more to the burger though, maybe? Asked for the beef patty medium but it was a tad overdone which made it dry 😢 Bit too much onion for me but that wasn’t a huge issue. The ingredient that saved it was the hashbrown. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside 🤤. Made hanging out with JP1 and James_Harte much more tolerable.

Some places have contributed to shaping who you are as a person. Mary’s has shaped me. Going to this place is like visiting your favourite grandma (minus the grunge, or not... depending on what your grandma is like) because you know you’ll be well-fed. Mary’s single handedly got me through my uni degree at Sydney and started my love for burgers. Hence the top rating. The first bite of this cheeseburger with trashcan bacon added is like a first kiss, like finding your long lost sister, like buying your first house. You don’t even have to use your teeth to pull it apart it’s so soft. The beef patty is juicy and the bacon is perfectly cooked. The cheese mixed with the perfectly tangy and salty mixture of the mustard and tomato sauce ties it all together. And there’s no pressure to talk while you’re eating because you can’t hear anything in there anyway 😎. Couldn’t get a good photo with flash because JP1 said that would be embarrassing. Side note... get the mashed potato and gravy as well.

I don’t usually get chicken burgers but figured I should considering the name of the shop! Full disclosure - I changed the sauce on this one because I can’t do spice. The only non-spicy sauce they had was garlic aioli and it was literally all I could taste on the burger and not in a good way 😔. However that was completely my fault and not theirs. The bun was soft and the bacon was cooked super well. The chicken was nice and juicy and while the skin was so so crunchy, it had no special taste to it that makes you go “wow” like I’ve had before.

The name of this burger sums up my life motto, everything is ABSOLUTELY better with bacon. I’ll start with the positives - this burger was huge! You definitely wouldn’t leave feeling hungry. They didn’t skimp on the bacon and the cheese was soft and had a strong taste on this one. Sadly, the beef was a tad over cooked which made it hard to chew through and the bun was a tad burnt. I also would have liked more sauce because it was dry in parts. I wouldn’t get this one again but I’d go back to try something different. If you eat here, defs get the side of chicken poppers. Magnificent, beautiful, yum.
