AustraliaNSWSydneyWahroongaBurger HoundsDIY UNICORN

There’s no other burger joint I’d put faith in to build a unicorn other than Hounds. They proved that today. Only had one other unicorn and that was from BH too. It had all the essential burger elements done to perfection. - The salty and savoury from the beef and red cheddar, crispy bacon, and the genius that was the grilled curd slab, as well as the rich poutine. - The sweetness from the maple bacon jam, the spiced honey drench on the chicken, and the chipotle maple mayo. - The crunch from the bacon, the coating on the rice bubble chicken, and the crispy onion rings. - A little bit of heat from the chipotle maple mayo. - Much needed acidity from the pickles to cut through everything Sometimes with the DIY stuff I feel you can overdo it, but I reckon this was just about bang on. Thanks again for the feed BH 🍔🙏 Ingredients list in comments!

The last time I had a unicorn I had reviewed one other burger. So much has changed since! I honestly don’t know how our burger hero’s do this day in, day out. It was hard enough doing it for myself. I can’t imagine how hard forming a unicorn would be for fussy burger hoards every day. So much respect! It all starts with the ingredient quality and Burger Hounds never fails to have the best stuff around. As usual, James and the Burger Hounds crew nailed my burger. Perfectly cooked (double) beef, expertly melted red, vintage cheddar AND cheese curd slab, well balanced sauce combo, vinegary pickled onions to cut through the protein, and the crispiest bacon/onion rings. This was the fanciest and best tasting “cheese burger” I’ve ever experienced. It was awesome seeing a packed out store, especially during these tough time’s. Keep it up guys!

Very, very good. As always, quality ingredients expertly and lovingly prepared. My fault it wasn’t a total unicorn, I think it needed a touch more kick and perhaps a tiny bit less sweet....

decided to go a little more sensible this round of diy. Its almost as good as the first one I made a couple years ago but I'd give the other one an edge. I think the curd slab disrupted the sweetness just enough to keep it from being a unicorn. the slab had great texture and a nice smell but was just a little too salty and clashed with the sweetstuff. i think going for the smoked cheddar over the curd slab would take it to that unicorn score. would love to try this with gochujang too but will have to wait till next time. ingredients list in comments

First time creating my own unicorn! decided to do a chicken and pattie combination as I haven't had their chicken yet but couldn't get past their Patties lol 😁 This was friggin epic! After finishing work early and a 45 minute drive later, this was all worth the effort to come for! plus also my best shot of hounds 😁 as my previous visits U would have seen in my reviews I was struggling to get good shots as I was struggling to get the burger out of the box Haha! plus love that bacon jam to! one of the best around! 👍

Just the best, an absolute must-try this weekend. This is the first monster burger I've ever had, and The Hound pulled it off so well. I asked for nearly everything and he constructed it like an artisan no problem, explaining this patty has this cheese and this sauce, your egg's in here, your pineapple's there. There was no decrease in quality due to the volume of ingredients, and actually I felt everything was even better than usual. Patties were pink inside and juicy, salad fresh and crisp, soft egg wasn't too soft, best onion rings, and the variety of cheeses including the grilled curd slab were great, I think my favourite was the vintage cheddar. l could go on, but basically I got everything, and everything was just top notch.

With Hounds having my all-time favourite burger: The Canuck, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to create our own Hounds Unicorn for $25. The beef and chicken were thick, juicy and perfectly cooked as always. They paired well together and separately on the burger (as our mouths couldn’t always get around both with each bite). The onion rings were generous and crispy, and the lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions added that freshness that we love (although there was a little too much lettuce). The sauces all paired beautifully with each other, giving the burger a little heat and loads of flavour. That being said, it did cause the poutine and grilled curd slab to get a little lost and unnoticed. Finally, that heavenly maple bacon jam brought it home, adding that hit of delicious sweetness which balanced out all of the other elements.
