The once almighty Chicken & Sons is dead if this burger is anything to go by. The bun was crap and cold, the lettuce was crap and boring, the bacon was crap and undercooked, the cheese was crap and placed on at the very end, the chicken was crap and dry and very small compared to my past visits. Plus the coating was way too crunchy that it almost chipped my teeth. Only positive was that the tomato was fresh and the tortilla chips were tasty. Even the hot sauce wasn't hot. Definitely my last visit to C&S at Lilyfield. This crappy burger came with very ordinary fries and cost me $23. I tried talking to the chef/cook about it, but he was too 'busy' to notice me waiting, so I just left.

Sure, this was one tasty burger, but has anyone ever watched Man Vs Food on TLC? This felt a little like that. The chicken is seasoned quite well and plentiful in size, but going the double on this was just ludicrous. I ended up forfeiting the traditional “double fist” grip and just ate the burger layer by layer, wallowing in my defeat. This is one hell of a tasty burg but the sheer difficulty in eating it (user error) hurt its rating. Definitely worth checking out this joint and getting a pint whilst you’re there 🍻

Despite finding the place a tad difficult to find, this burger didn’t disappoint. Needed a knife and fork due to the monstrous size of this thing. Awesome spin on a “Big Mac” like burger

The Fiery Irish Bird: fried chicken, Cashel blue cheese sauce, Black Barrel hot sauce, pickles, slawcannon (2 cabbage, carrot, maple bacon) beef patty, @challenger_smallgoods bacon and chips added for good measure ☘️ The specials from @chickenandsons are pretty damn good. The St Patrick’s Day offering definitely turned up the heat. The chicken and beef are both killer here, together they are pure delightful. The blue cheese sauce was the perfect compliment to the hot sauce which, with the pickles, was made with @jameson_au Black Barrel Whiskey. Slaw to round it all out, it’s a shame it’s over!

The Mardi Grazie’ 🏳️🌈 🇮🇹 . 📕-Roma Tomato🍅 📙-C&S Fried Chicken 🍗 📒-Parmesan and Cheese 🧀 📗-Salsa Verde?!🍃 📘-Gorgonzola Blue Cheese Loaded Fries 🍟 💜-Spanish Onion ⭕️ Plus added bacon 🥓 Happy Mardi Gras Sydney especially to all of my LBGTIQ friends and fam! 🌈 🦄 This week Chicken & Sons have put out a special to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Mardi Gras, and boy is it good! Crispy chicken was accompanied by an Italian spectrum of flavours that represented each colour in the pride flag. You can’t go wrong with this combo. The salsa verde and Gorgonzola oozed deliciousness throughout the freshness of the salad and textures of the chicken and chips. I’m glad I added bacon, because everything is better with maple bacon! There was pretty much a parade dancing down my tongue.

WARNING: Graphic images of bacon strips! The Mother Butter: Buttermilk fried breast, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, bacon, tortilla crumble, motherclucker hot sauce, more bacon (pretty sure there were jalapeños and mayo on there too) Today was a good day. After being informed that Chicken and Sons had moved in to the Orange Grove Hotel I was set to get in to try it out. A further push came from looking at colleagues tucking in to their lite n’ easy or salads, I was set to bounce. After my long journey, under a minute on foot, I was ready to get stuck in. Not normally one to opt for chicken burgers, I gave the Mother Butter a go. Who the hell goes somewhere with Chicken in the name and goes straight to beef? Shut up and tell us about the burger, dickhead! Juicy chicken, so tender with a crispy coating that had a nice little crunch and was seasoned really well. Additional crunch was provided by the tortillas. The bacon were crispy, salty and just what you need on most burgers. Adam tells me their usual bacon is even better, so I can’t wait for more of that to arrive. The cheddar was great, had a bit more flavour than some American cheeses places use. The salad does what salad does, no need to explain that. The hot sauce is bloody good. It’s subtle, yet perfect for a chicken burger. It won’t blow your head off, or give much of a kick at all. I don’t think that is what it’s intended for. Jalapeños added the kick I wanted and mayo balanced it all out. Safe to say I’ll be back. Will let you know how the beef goes!
