El Chapo 🌮 Continuing my burger adventure in Canberra, I swung by Grease Monkey as I heard they were worth a visit. Their current special is pretty much nachos on a burger which is executed really well. All the flavours meld together nicely, the black bean and corn beef patty was nice and juicy and had a great Mexican flavour. The cheese sauce and guac softened the salsa and jalapeños and the corn chips gave a nice difference with the texture. I’m a big fan of burgers that you can’t fit your mouth around but all the burgers here are relatively small so a few points lost there. Reminiscent of a classic take away shop style burger, the ingredients are fresh and buns are soft and nicely toasted. Flavours are awesome but it’s a shame about the size. At least all burgers come with a side of chips to fill up on!

I'm here at Floriade for an author event, couldn't go past the Grease Monkey food truck. Their standard burger has a soft bun, juicy thin patty but their presentation was lacking, bit of lettuce and sauce overload wasn't the best. But it was during the busy lunch rush so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt :-) Would love to try their proper store next time

My Canberra verdict: Been here a few weeks for work, thought I would revisit the #1 burger I sampled. And added Mac and cheese this time 👍🏽👍🏽 It’s a really solid burger. Tasty beef well cooked and the best buns in Canberra by a long way. I got it deliverood to my hotel (again) because it it’s fucked up cold down here and I’m not going anywhere at night, but I would love to visit the joint as it sounds like It has a great vibe. All in all, the Canberra burger scene Is strong. Grease Monkey and Mookie at the top off the pile Pro Tip: the Harbenaro Mayo here is unreal. Get It. Dip your chips in it.

A solid option in our nation’s capital! Just had it deliverood before the state of origin and it hit the spot. It was small but very tasty. I guess the closet sydney comparison would be Mary’s. Well worth a visit when in Canberra 👍🏽 - beef 🥩 - lettuce 🥬 - cheese 🧀 - onion - pickle - relish - special sauce

Awesome trip to canberra for the weekend and was excited to try some new burgs. Grease Monkey has a great vibe and a cool space, but below average burgers. Small, and very ordinary. I added bacon, which brought it up a tick, but the sauces were sparse, and didn’t add much. Lost my receipt, so I wouldn’t normally bother with a review. Trying to save you.

Hadn’t been here for a while but have to say it was on point today. Had the Greasy Feast which includes Greasy burger, potato and gravy, coleslaw, a piece of chicken and a drink. Also had the special Prawn Star. Have to say everything was excellent. Prawn Star was the standout. Burger was juicy and topped with prawns that had been marinated and finished with a chilli jam. Greasy burger was tasty as usually and the sides were spot on too. Can highly recommend.

The greasy...not as the title states! Pretty plain actually! Bun was too big compared to what was in it, probably should have went the double as I smashed it too easy! The truffle Mac and cheese balls are amazing and the pirate life pale ale you can’t go wrong!

Good tasting burger for $15 (chips included) as per the previous reviewer, was on the smaller side and lacking in the GM sauce department. The chef could also have seasoned the chips more generously today as there wasn't a lot on there. Seasoning was different and thoroughly enjoyed it when I could taste it. Would go back.
