DAIRY FREE - Had the Plain Jane without cheese + bacon, avocado and a gluten free bun. Apparently the bun was dairy free. I also added chips to the burger to make it a little fuller and interesting. Presentation was pretty disappointing before the chips were added, and flavour was alright. Ultimately the bun let the burger down.

Stuck in hotel lockdown and decided to give these guys a crack. Ordered the Theo which is all the things I love on a burg. The patty is a bit of an old stool style that reminds me of a truck stop. That salty firm meat rather than the slightly more pink that I like. Cheese was a little MIA and wasn't a fan of the foreign spicy sauce on the bottom bun, should have left it off. Overall, didn't love it, didn't hate it

Not a bad burger. Cross between American style and classic aussie takeaway beef patty. Salad was crisp and jalapeños and sauce was pretty good

I miss VIC and seeing as I won't be traveling interstate anytime soon, it was time to visit a place that originated from Melbourne. I tried Huxtaburger in the Melb CBD a few years ago and it was a solid 4. This time I tried their take on the double cheeseburger. It's a bit small for 14.50 but hey looks can be deceptive. After a few bites, the cheesy sauce was nice, but the melted cheese beefy combo just didn't hit any high notes. An average burger that could be more.

While I sat here eating this burger, I was trying to think of some funny Cheeses/Jesus pun. This burger was so freakin good the best I blurted out was "cheesus Christ this is a bloody good burger!" The cheese goes without saying, but everything else about it was too damn good. My only beef (heheh) is the amount of pickles in the burger. One too many for my liking. I added an onion ring to the burger, which, IMO just topped it off. One of the better burgers I've had in a while. Would tell Jesus about it.

🐮Beef patty 🧀Cheese 🔶Mustard 💧Mayo 🔴Tomato sauce 🍅Tomato 🥬Lettuce 🥒Pickles I've had Huxtaburger on my list since it opened earlier in the year so went in today with enthusiasm only to be fairly disappointed. The Huxtaburger beef has a nice char to it but the beef had too much gristle in it and just cheapened the whole experience. The cheese on this burger looked like a slice that'd been left in the fridge to die a tasteless, lonely, dehydrated death. The lettuce and tomato were fresh but... they're just lettuce and tomato. This was screaming out for any kind of sauce more interesting than mayo, ketchup and mustard. For $11 this isn't terrible value but Milk Bar by Cafe Ish is a 60 second walk away and amazing. Based solely on this burger, I wouldn't go back to Huxtaburger. It felt like an upmarket Maccas. When people describe Mary's as being 'just like Maccas', they should be sent here for perspective.
