Went out to the Sydney Noodle Night Markets and stumbled across the pop up Johnny Bird. Got really excited about trying the Sticky Ricky and joined the long queue that had formed. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the 25 minute wait. As you can see in the pic it was poorly prepared (probably due to the long line), the chicken was two chicken tenders as opposed to a whole piece which meant a lot of bites were all bun and the majority of the burger was shredded lettuce. Seriously disappointing when I paid $15 and could’ve walked 500m to BL for the new special for $12. I’d like to try this at the actual store because the sticky Szechuan sauce and sesame was amazing.

Buttermilk fried chicken (doubled) Lettuce Spring onion Sticky Szechuan sauce Sesame seeds Last night at the night noodle market and it was packed. 25 minute wait which was fine because it meant I could go pig out and other food on the meantime. The burger itself was good without being spectacular. The chicken was a little overcooked but still juicy in the thicker parts. Adding the extra piece threw the ratios off as it was a little dry overall. The bun was also a little overdone. Once I got to the sauce and the other elements, it was actually very nice. Sauce was nice and sweet and the lettuce, spring onions, and sesame, gave it that Asian twist and crunch. Haven’t visited the shop since it was Johnny Lobster (RIP) but I’d be keen to give it another go as I reckon this probably lost a couple points due to them being under the pump and not in their own kitchen.
