Actually the OG Crispy Lechon Burger, which has the buns replaced by Filipino crispy pork belly, lechon. Doesn't look big in the photo, but actually very large, over half a kilo of pork belly, and double patty. The lechon was some of the best I've ever had, including specialty lechon restaurants, crisp and extremely meaty. The patties, pickles and sauce were great as always. One to try if you like pork belly and/or you've never had it Filipino-style before.

My other burger for the evening. Hot and steaming like a burg from the back of a truck should be. This is also called the Pare burger. The crispy pork is the star fatty moist and crispy. The beef is juicy and tender and the other ingredients are fresh and tasty. The fluorescent red sauce on there is sweet. Kind of like a sweet and sour sauce but with very little sour. Would definitely go back, should have gotten my second from here as well or Mr Pig which was also at the Marsden night market.

🍔Crispy lechon burger 🐷Crispy pork belly burger buns 🍚Coconut rice 🥩Smash patty 🧀American cheese 🥒Pickles 🌰Onion 🍔Signature sauce Took the long trek out to Mate purely to try this, what I love about Mate is their constant use of Filipino ingredients, never heard of banana ketchup but because of Mate I now need it in my life. I have never caught on to the use of chicken breast as burger buns as I find them less sturdy; same cannot be said about the crispy pork belly buns here. They were so crisp yet were soft inside, I have had Mate’s pork before and it’s the first thing I look for in deciding what eat, sure the Ensaymada is unreal but add pork belly to that and you are looking at unicorns. Never had rice on a burger before, thankfully it was coconut rice, obviously it feel out but was nice and soft to eat by itself. Patty was think and charred nicely, topped off with their signature sauce, so thankful I had this and hopefully I am back sooner than later.

Was no the way home from work and spied a night market in the Marsden Park Ikea parking lot. I happened upon Mate burger which I had been meaning to try since I first laid eye on the Lechon Burger. It was glorious, everything I had imagined. Soft tender pork belly with the most specular crackling. It’s dressed with cucumber and tangy green mango which adds a slight sweetness . This is then covered with a drizzling of truffle mayo and crispy onion rings. Using the TBC app you get free bacon, and it brings the overall crunch factor up 10 notches. They are there the first Monday of each month and I will definitely be back then.
