THE BELLY BURGER "Some of the best pork I've had in a long time; got to have it with chimichurri." - 🐷 Low & Slow Cooked Pork Belly - ☘️ Homemade Slaw - 🥒 Pickles - 🌶️🍀 ADDON: Jalapeno Chimichurri - 🍟 SIDE: Fries I've been meaning to try Smoky Sue's for a while, and when it came up for free delivery just after I started checking out the menu, I took it as a sign. Someone was looking out for me, because it was one of the most succulent burgers I've ever had. The pork was quite literally melt in your mouth, with the slightest taste of fat that took me back to Christmas Day lunches. The outside was charred and crackly, and the insides were lightly pink and tasty - exactly the way pork is supposed to be cooked. The chimichurri really complimented the pork, and I could not recommend it strongly enough. It's hard to know what you’re going to get with chimichurri, as it’s a name given to a small variety of similar sauces. This variation is just the right mixture of spice and zest to perfectly compliment any pork dish, and the light spice from the jalapenos just make it even better. The home-made slaw was pretty decent, though I did feel I could have had a little less. It appeared to be made from cabbage, onion and carrot, and worked well opposite the pork strips. The pickles added a good amount of crunch, and had a good taste to them, but I felt it was unneeded on this burger. I love my pickles, but it felt like the pickle drew away from the pork, which was the real MVP. I opted for a side of fries with my burger. I thought the box was pretty small, but they were really crispy, and easy to eat. They also had a very faint herby taste, which is the kind of thing I really enjoy with my thick cut chips. All in all, it was a great impression for my first meal from Sue's. I'll definitely be back; keen as a bean to try out that brisket.
