Great fish burger. The jalapeños with pickles are awesome. Looking forward to trying the rest.

Really top quality fish burg. It’s been a while since I last had one so I’ve gotta say this was a good decision. The tartare/tartaresque sauce was tasty and but I found it really subtle and perhaps would’ve liked a little more of a punch of tartare. Not sure if there’s been a recipe change because older reviews seemed to have said the opposite. Anyway I added some chipotle sauce I had with my sides and that gave me the extra punch I needed (4.3 with the added sauce)

Love me a fish burger. This was delicious but be forewarned they’ve swapped from cabbage slaw to iceberg. Sauce ratios were solid, fish was delicate and flaky, bun was a cloud like pillow. Jalapeños are a great add to this, and only just enough for a little heat. It really needs the crunch of that cabbage.

I’m not usually a fan of fish burgers, although in Typical Sunset Diner fashion, Ben’s converted me. So come on, why not hop on the big yellow double decker bus and head up to Avalon, this is one place you do not want to miss.

🍔🍔 Five Am Catch 🍔🍔 * Beer Battered Fish * Cheese * Herb & Cabbage Slaw * Pickled Jalapeńos It's been a while since my last fish burger, so I decided to give this one a go. The strong flavours and spice from the slaw and jalapeńos did overpower the burger. Plus the slaw was very runny and the fish was kinda on the small side. I'm not sure what kind of fish it was but it must've been related to Nemo. The slaw and jalapeńos were delicious but I would've loved a bigger piece of fish so it could stand out more. The piece of fish I did get was cooked nicely but it just got lost in the burger.

First time dining at sunset diner and have to say I love the venue, the fitout the vibe .... it was all great. Started with a brookvale ginger beer on tap and the Mrs had a chocy shake , both delicious. As far as fish burgers go it was good but I have had much better , for me there was way too much slaw and sauce which drowned out any crispness or flavour of the actual fish. And let’s face it when you are eating a fish burg you want to be able to appreciate the fish that some poor bastard was out at 5 am catching 😂 We had a very early 530pm dinner (3 yr old child to blame for that) and by 630 when we were leaving the place was really filling up so congrats to the proprietors on an awsome addition to Avalon

I have no doubt many, nay most people that order this will enjoy it. This score isnt reflective of the quality of burger, it is moreso me being curious about seafood in a burger then trying it and deciding its not for me. If i were to have that fish on its own, i love seafood, i would say its a decent beachside fried fish feed. Not the best not the worst. The slaw again is great. In a burger, especially with the cheese it just didnt work for me.

Fact, I've never had a fish burger until yesterday. Fact, this was an epic fish burger to lose my fish burger virginity to. Batter was nice and crunchy and the fish was spot on. The slaw was nice and creamy, had tartar sauce so obvs a perfect combo with the fishy. Don't think mine came with jalepenos like advertised but this thing didn't scream that it needed them on there so I wasn't too fussed.
