The Irish rover special: Beef Potato rosti Irish cheddar Guinness braised brisket Holy sauce White onions Green St Malo milk bun Got invited out to Balmain and was worried about the dearth of good burgers out there seeing many ordinary reviews from the area. First stop of burgers anonymous failed as the pub was closed for renovations. Ended up at the cricketers and was pleasantly surprised by the special. Beef was ok, a little under seasoned. Brisket was good, but a bit light on the serving. Potato rosti... now that's what caught my eye and this was really nice. Essentially a hash brown but oh so tasty. Crunchy diced onion and holy sauce, whatever that is... tasted like aoili, all round a decent burg. Bun wasn't too heavy like other coloured buns I've had. Pretty busy location too, good on Balmain keeping the hospitality sector going.

I was jealous seeing all the $5 cheeseburgers so I got a cheeseburger but sadly this wasn’t $5. The chef came to give me the burger and said the burger was extra special as they used it for a promo shot - just tasted the same as it always does from this place. It is what it is a basic cheesey with tomato sauce and mustard. Sadly some of the cheese wasn’t melted and it wasn’t $5. If this was purchased on a normal day it would be a 3.7.

Burger of the week - $19 + $3 for 🥓 🥩double beef (one added) 🐔shredded chicken (removed) 🧀American cheese 🧀liquid cheese 🥗lettuce 🥒pickles 🥔 hash brown 💦’Easter’ sauce (this was left off unintentionally) 🥓bacon (added) 🍞milk bun I switch the shredded chicken for a second patty and I’m glad I did that. I’m not sure grilled chicken would’ve added much to this burg. The sliced cheese and liquid cheese were good additions and added to the burg. The beef was fairly good taste wise it had some char to it and was juicy. Unfortunately I didn’t get any ‘Easter sauce’ i think it was just sriracha mayo (my mate got the same burg and it came with the sauce). Sriracha mayo would’ve elevated this burger taste wise. Hash brown and bacon was good crunch factor but $3 for one small slice of bacon was overpriced. The milk bun held together well and was nice and soft. So far this is my favourite burg I’ve had in Balmain. It won’t get as high a score as others I’ve had last year as my standards have gone up considerably in the last year!

🍞soft milk bun 🐔fried chicken 🧀American cheese 🥬cos lettuce 🥒pickles (surprise ingredient wasn’t on the menu) 💦sriracha Mayo Fried chicken Fry-Day (Fry-Yay)! This was my first chicken burg here and although it was definitely no 🦄 it was a tasty burg nonetheless. The chicken was juicy and crunchy but was a little small so next time I’ll double it. The coating on the chicken was flavoursome. The pickles were a nice surprise and added some saltiness. There was a pretty good cheese melt for a chicken burger here. The highlight of this burg was definitely the sriracha Mayo. If there was more of this it would’ve made the burg even better. It was actually spicy which was a nice change as I often find sriracha mayo is light on the sriracha and heavy on the mayo. Definitely worth a re-visit with some hacks added.
